Among the greatest missiological challenges of our time is the skyrocketing growth of new faith communities without adequately trained pastoral leadership.
Each day, an estimated 50,000 people are expressing new faith in Christ, significantly outpacing the number of pastoral leaders who have the character, knowledge, and skills to effectively shepherd these new believers in their unique contexts.
Without adequately trained pastoral leadership, these new churches will face numerous challenges that can hinder their mission and threaten their existence, including inaccurate theology, inadequate discipleship, and incompetent pastoral care.

To that end, the Global Pastoral Theological Alliance (GPTA), a consortium of Christian ministries and partners, has been established. The purpose of the Alliance is to create capacity to serve the educational needs of the millions of pastoral leaders worldwide who currently lack adequate training. The Alliance will work to unite the various streams of influence, expertise, and resources needed to train millions of pastoral leaders in the years ahead—especially in places where the need is the greatest. While the specific tactics and projects are still unknown, the GPTA will address these challenges through the following strategies:
Mobilizing the Church - by elevating awareness of opportunities to get involved through prayer and funding.
Sharing learning - through research, mapping, and pooled expertise.
Increasing capacity - by scaling existing programs for maximum effectiveness and delivery.
Innovating solutions - by ideating new ways to accelerate pastoral training where it’s needed most.
Generating resources - by garnering the capital needed to achieve our vision.
